A Halloween Volleyball Tournament

Gather your team and join us in Somerset for the inaugural Cursed Crown Classic — an all-day coed volleyball tournament featuring pool play, a championship bracket, costumes, cash and the beginning of a new Sovereign Sports tradition.

Who Can Play?
Coed 6s
Teams play six on the court with a minimum of two women on the court at all times. Teams may play with more than two women.
Rec / Intermediate
This tournament is designed for recreational and intermediate players who want competitive volleyball in a fun, community-focused environment.
Entry & Championship Prize
Team registration is $150. The tournament requires a minimum of six teams and is capped at ten.
Guaranteed Cash Prize
Beginning with six registered teams, the championship prize increases by $50 for every additional team.
6 Teams: $300 • 7: $350 • 8: $400 • 9: $450 • 10: $500
Tournament Format
Every version of the Cursed Crown Classic begins with pool play and concludes with a seeded championship bracket. The final format is determined by the number of registered teams.
6-Team Tournament
Pool Play: Two pools of three.
Each team plays two full pool matches.
Championship: All six teams advance. The two pool winners receive first-round byes.
A2 plays B3 and B2 plays A3. Winners advance to face the opposite pool winners in the semifinals.
7-Team Tournament
Pool Play: One pool of four and one pool of three.
Teams receive two or three full pool matches depending on pool assignment.
Championship: All seven teams advance. One qualifying team receives a first-round bye.
8-Team Tournament
Pool Play: Two pools of four.
Every team receives three full pool matches.
Championship: All eight teams advance.
Opening round: A1 vs B4 • A2 vs B3 • B1 vs A4 • B2 vs A3.
9-Team Tournament
Pool Play: One pool of five and one pool of four.
Short-format pool play is used to accommodate the larger field.
Championship: The top three teams from each pool advance. Pool winners receive semifinal byes.
A2 plays B3 and B2 plays A3 for the remaining semifinal positions.
10-Team Tournament
Pool Play: Two pools of five.
Every team receives four short-format pool matches.
Championship: The top three teams from each pool advance. Pool winners receive semifinal byes.
A2 plays B3 and B2 plays A3 for the remaining semifinal positions.

Championship bracket matches use the full 21 / 21 / 15 format.
Pool Standings
During full-match pool play, standings are determined by match record, head-to-head result, set differential, point differential and total points scored, in that order.
During short-format pool play, standings are determined by sets won, head-to-head when applicable, set differential, point differential and total points scored, in that order.
Come Dressed for the Occasion
It's Halloween. Of course costumes are encouraged.
Dress up individually or bring the whole team into the theme — just make sure whatever you wear allows you to play safely and doesn't interfere with other players.
Concessions
Concessions will be available throughout the tournament.
Come ready for an all-day event, bring your people, and make a day of it.
The Cursed Crown
The champions won't just leave with the cash.
The winning team will become the first to claim the Cursed Crown — the perpetual championship trophy of the Cursed Crown Classic.
The Crown returns to Sovereign Sports after the tournament and carries forward the history of every team that claims it.
